On Nov. 27, the affordable housing project in Kenya of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) held the "Witness Happiness" Cloud Open Day event. Abdi Ismail, Architect of the Park Road Affordable housing in Nairobi, led us to visit the Kenyan government's first affordable housing project built by CSCEC, which fully demonstrated CSCEC's responsibility for the improvement of the living conditions and economic development in the region.
After the Big Four Agenda proposed by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Park Road Affordable housing in Nairobi is the first of its kind built by the local government, which has attracted extensive attention. The president has visited the project for two times. It is located in the Ngara district, Nairobi, close to the Nairobi CBD. It covers an area of 32,000 square meters and plans to build 1,370 houses with a construction area of 12,300 square meters. The project was signed at the end of 2018, and started construction in early 2019. It was completed seven months ahead of schedule and the entire project was completed in this October.
Abdi Ismail pointed out that in the construction process, CSCEC has adopted many local elements in the construction and procured locally the materials used in the construction, so as to drive up profits for local enterprises in Kenya. CSCEC has also provided local manufacturers with a lot of technical guidance and support.
The home-buyer—Smith, said in an interview, he has bought a three bedroom house and is looking forward to moving in with her family after the project is completed. It is a great house with big rooms, sufficient sunlight and good devices.
